A Quiet Week, A Full Heart: The Perfect Balance

Weekly Reflection 04/20• 04/26 2026

Nothing Crazy, Just Relaxing Vibes

**Let Me Tell You Bout My Best Friend, Ax & Fal Edition**

On Monday, Jonny went back to Charlotte to continue training for his new job, so it was another long week without him.

Fallon has already bonded with Axel to the extent I had bonded with Bean. I think there is a key difference here: I bonded with Bean quickly and deeply because I had to be his mother and so I felt closer to him than Fallon did, I knew she would feel that same bond when he was old enough to play, but he just didn’t get to make it to that point and Fallon has bonded with Axel quicker than I have BECAUSE she can play with him and love on him without him being as fragile as Bean was. I do see it as a blessing because she was already devastated when we lost Bean, but I ask myself, “how much worse would it had been if she had gotten as close to him as she has Axel?” It’s a blessing in disguise, very bittersweet.

While I was working, Finley’s custom, ultrasound painting came in that I ordered for the nursery and for the guests to sign at the baby shower. It is perfect and I love it. I wish I would’ve known about it with Fallon…I have considered getting her ultrasound out and sending it to the same artist so she has one in her room too…I’ll update on that down the road.

Fallon and I went to bed early Monday night, it was a slow evening and Tuesday wasn’t much different.

It was a simple day and night, Tuesday.

I edited some of Kenzy’s bridal portraits which I had, admittedly, neglected in my Lightroom catalog last week because of Bean’s passing. I just couldn’t bring myself to care about anything else and it is really hard to edit photos when you can’t see through the tears.

Fallon slept in my room again as she has every night that Jonny has been out of town.

We do love our sleepovers.

No offense to Jonny lol.

And just a little kitten update as we learn about Axel…he is a terror in the middle of the night. It hits 3 AM and he is a menace to society. 😂

Fresh As A Daisy

**Beauty Appointments Galore**

This is, by no means, an important Wednesday update, but I did get my nails done (they were a mess, it was about time) and I got my brows done (for the first time in literally years) the same afternoon.

Nails in the AM, brows in the PM. I feel freshhhhhh.

Fallon was so patient during my brow appointment. She is always such a good baby.

Practice Makes Perfect

**Rehearsal Before The Hendrix’s Big Day**

The usual morning…work…school…you know the drill by now.

Afterwards…

Fallon and I went to Kenzy and Cam’s wedding rehearsal and rehearsal dinner.

Fallon and Dani are flower girls and Crew is the ring bearer. Jonny couldn’t get back into town for it, I wish he could’ve been there.

The actual rehearsal at the venue was a waste of time for Fallon. Dani and Crew didn’t make it to that, but it didn’t matter in the end. The wedding planner didn’t talk to Fallon and acted like she wasn’t there. She wasn’t the most helpful event coordinator I’ve ever worked with, that’s for sure.

We left the venue and everyone headed to the Carolina Country Club for dinner.

The food was incredible, I had the Chicken Cordon Bleu with mashed potatoes and asparagus. I also tried Jonny’s salmon (not the side of rice because I literally hate rice), and WOAH, I don’t even know which was better. They still served his placed to his assigned seat because we did think there was a chance he’d make it.

All of the kids got chicken tenders and fries…also delicious (of course I tried lol).

My sister, brother-in-law and the kids left early, which was a bummer, but I get it…

My sister is also pregnant, but she will go into labor any day now and she was having an emotional/hormonal crash out kind of day so it wasn’t going well before, during, or after the rehearsal events. They irish exited the rehearsal dinner (which I’m honestly impressed about because I wish I had that level of idgaf’s LOL).

Fallon was great, as always. She was patient, polite, and mature during a very adult dinner and a rehearsal where there were no other children and a wedding planner that did not make her feel included.

It was a long day and when Fallon and I left, we both agreed to get into bed when we got home, cuddle Axel, and relax. We were beat.

**Axel Meets the In-Laws**

Friday was just another day, but I do want to note the memory of Axel meeting my in-laws. We took him to Jonny’s parents house upon his mom’s request and it was a very cute evening. They loved him. How could you not, though?! 😭

Congratulations to Mr. & Mrs. Hendrix!

**Officially Married! The Hendrix’s Wedding Day!**

The morning before the wedding, Sarah and I ran to get coffee at Starbs and then traveled over to Walmart to grab a couple of things for the girls before their big Flower Girl Moment (Fallon needed back up sandals just in case…her heels gave her blisters at the rehearsal).

Normally, as a guest to a wedding or a hired photographer, I would simple be getting myself ready to attend an event or do a job and nothing more, but we spent a little more time getting ready for this one since Fallon took it very seriously being a flower girl.

In usual Segar tradition, our family attire matched. We wore the same colors as Fallon’s Flower Girl dress bows (her bows were Lavender and Dani’s were blush pink). Jonny looked very handsome dressed up and in his Lavender tie. And yes, he definitely made it to the wedding.

I curled Fallon’s hair and did a fancy up-do (the same up-do I did in mine. We love to match to the T!) for her tiara (my first time putting heat on her hair) and we got her all done up for her big moment. She looked beautiful…nothing new. 🤍

The kids did an amazing job…Crew looked SO handsome in his tiny suit and the girls were stunning.

The wedding had rain, but after hearing Kenzy and Cam’s story in relationship to water, I can confidently say that I think the rain was meant to be. It was a sign of their bond rather than some bad luck. The attire was Spring colors and the bridesmaids all had different spring-colored dresses on. It was beautiful. The clash of all of the clear umbrellas and cloudy skies with the bright spring colors was wonderful. I loved it. I kept thinking “April showers…” and the wedding really reflected the image that this famous quote gives. Beauty and growth from preparation and patience.

My beautiful family
Saying our prayers…

Everyone danced the night away and the most important part of any wedding…the playlist was fire. LOL 🙌🏼

The little flower girl was all partied out

Side note memory:
During the speeches (which were actually some of the best speeches I’ve heard at a wedding), Fallon came back into the covered area (the kids had been outside playing in the rain), and pulled me down to bend over so she could whisper to me. She said “I don’t want Auntie Kenzy to move away…” I said “Baby, she isn’t moving away lol, she’s just moving into a new house with Uncle Cam” and she said “Do you know where her new house is?” and I told her I did. She said “Okay, good” and went back outside to play. I’m not 100% sure where she got the idea that we wouldn’t be seeing Auntie Kenzy anymore (maybe because there were a lot of tears during the speeches), but she was relieved to know that wasn’t the case and it was pretty freaking adorable.

One more Side Note Memory:
The band-aids did great with Fallon’s heels. She wore them all night and didn’t want to take them off! I guess running around in heels at a party is hereditary. 😉

We headed home around 9 and we all went right to bed. Absolutely EXHAUSTED, but our hearts were full of great vibes and the love of the days events.

A Final Update

I finished Kenzy’s bridal portrait gallery Sunday night. I wanted to send it when her and Cam could both look at the photos together (after he saw her dress, of course). Here is a couple of my favorites and the link to the full gallery:

I will also be including some shots in my portfolio, if not posting the full gallery for public view.

  • Weekly Highlight: Fallon’s flower girl moment
  • Weekly Rating: 9/10. It would have been a 10/10 if Jonny were here for it all.
  • Goal Progress? Yes, progress was made towards my goals this week. Progress towards photography & my blog.
